The Indian economy is the fourth largest economy of the world on the basis of PPP. It is one of the most attractive destinations for business and investment opportunities due to huge manpower base, diversified natural resources and strong macro-economic fundamentals.
India has become self-sufficient in agricultural production, and is now the tenth industrialized country in the world and the sixth nation to have gone into outer space.

India has a vibrant micro and small enterprise sector that plays an important role in sustaining the economic growth, by contributing around 39% to the manufacturing output and 34% to the Exports (निर्यात).

The Indian Industrial (औद्योगिक) sector majorly consisting of heavy and light engineering, steel, automotive, biotechnology, drugs and pharmaceuticals, food processing, mines, fertilizers, crafts, furnitures (फर्नीचर), textiles, machinery (मशीनरी) and Toolsindustrial supply, packaging, Consumer products, Manufacturing (विनिर्माण) and Conglomerates. Automotive (ऑटोमोटिव). India is the world's second largest manufacturer of two wheelers, fifth largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles as well as largest manufacturer of tractors.

Biotechnology is among the fast growing knowledge-based industrial sectors which has the immense potential to revolutionize Agriculture (कृषि), Healthcare, Health (स्वास्थ्य) and Beauty industrial processing and environmental sustainability.   India has been recognized as one of the leading global players in pharmaceuticals.

With the largest area of arable land, India is one of the world’s biggest Food (भोजन) producers. It is the largest producer of milk, sugarcane and tea as well as the second largest producer of rice, fruit and vegetables.

India is the world's sixth largest energy consumer accounting for about 3.5% of the world's total annual energy consumption.  India is the eighth largest crude Steel (इस्पात) producing country in the world. India is the second largest manufacturer of cement in the world.

The Indian Software (सॉफ्टवेयर) and services (IT services) industry has been moving up the value chain, giving India a formidable brand equity in the global markets.  Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs / Call Centers) sector has emerged as a key driver of growth for the Indian software and services industry.

India's Telecommunication  (दूरसंचार) network is the third largest in the world. It is also amongst the fastest growing telecom markets in the world. Indian telecom industry manufactures a complete range of telecom equipments using the state of the art technologies designed specifically to match the diverse terrain and climatic conditions.

The capital of India is Delhi (दिल्ली), the centre of national politics, international embassies and has one of the highest per capita income levels in India.

Mumbai (मुंबई Bombay)  - the commercial capital of India and one of the largest cities in the world (16 million). It is also the fashion and entertainment capital of the country.

Bangalore (Silicon Valley of India) and the nerve-centre of the country’s software industry. It has also gained the reputation of one of the world’s prime BPO centers.

India probably has the most religious diversity in any country. It’s the birthplace of Hinduism (हिंदू धर्म), Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. It’s among the few places to have a resident Zoroastrian population.Hinduism has grown to become the world's third largest religion (837 million, 13% of the world's population)after Christianity and Islam (इस्लाम).

The Constitution of India has recognized 22 different languages (Hindi (हिन्दी) Tamil, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjabi, Telugu ...) that are prevalent in the country, out of which, Hindi is the official language and is spoken in most of the urban cities of India. English is the language of business in India and the large English speaking workforce is a benefit to investors and employers. In fact, more Indians know English than the population of the USA

The National Flag is a horizontal tricolour of deep saffron (kesaria) at the top, white in the middle, and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion. At the centre of the white band is a navy blue wheel, which is a representation of the Ashoka Chakra at Sarnath.
